Even in the depths of winter, life abounds everywhere in nature. There are fresh buds on the honeysuckle and catkins dangle from the hazel. The ivy and the evergreens are more visible and the secrets of the landscape are revealed. The birds flock around the feeders and let me know when they want more; the robin redbreast has such a lovely song.

Venus is still shining bright in the early morning skies and Mars adorns the evening sky. The longest night has passed and the birth of the Sun and longer days are the promise of the coming weeks. Here we are on the morn of Christmas eve there’s only so many more shopping hours to go, what a relief.

The chart of the full Moon has a Libran ascendant with Venus the chart ruler in Scorpio in the 2nd separating from a trine with Uranus in Pisces in the 5th; this could bring some unexpected chance meeting of very old lover from the past. Librans like to keep everything peaceful and doesn’t like to rock the boat; they are very creative and have the ability to charm people making them feel comfortable. They are the diplomats of the zodiac, often taking their time to make a decision and sometimes end up sitting on the fence not being able to come to a conclusion.

On the other hand, the stellium in the 3rd of Pluto in Sagittarius and Jupiter, Sun and Mercury in Capricorn opposite the Moon, Mars conjunction in Cancer in the 9th says something completely different. This has a very decisive element to it. With all these planets moving into Capricorn the pace will slow down although due to the opposition there’s a lot of tension in the air, giving the impression of been pulled in two directions at once. Mars is still retrograde emphasizing the feeling of going over old ground especially where the family is concerned and questions how we assert ourselves while keeping every one else happy. This is strengthened by the Moon joining Mars. Emotions could be very heated and with so much going on sometimes it’s really hard to know in the moment what we are truly feeling. Remember our feelings change.

Jupiter entered Capricorn on the 18th December and asks us to become more conscious of our goals particularly where the environment is concerned and asks just what is our true philosophy on these matters. Jupiter, the Sun and Mercury are all approaching a trine to Saturn in Virgo in the 11th. Communication plays a vital role in this configuration, and issues around transport could be in everyone’s minds. Where l live there’s only one bus every three weeks - on a Wednesday.

Saturn goes retrograde on the 19th December and stays retrograde until the 3rd of May 2008 and goes all the way back to 1˚Virgo. We will see more articles on the health of the nation. How we take care of ourselves is closely related to how we take care of our planet. By people coming together, sharing ideas and pooling resources, the load is lightened. In many spiritual traditions they say it’s good to associate with like-minded people, its helps one stay on track.

I leave you with a quote:
“Your hearts know in silence the secrets of the days and nights.”
Kahil Gibran The Prophet.
Happy full Moon and happy Solstice
