New Moon
6th April 04.56 BST
Sun at 16˚ 44 ' Aries
Moon at 16˚ 44 ' Aries
The days are longer, the earth is warmer and the fields are turning
green again. There’s fresh growth on all the trees and the hedgerows
are full of life. The dawn chorus is truly amazing and soon the swallows
will return. How l love this time of year. To see the earth being dressed
in her green gown once again, we are truly blessed to live on this
beautiful planet.
The night skies
Mars and Saturn are still to been seen. The constellations of Orion
and the Pleiades will soon disappear and will not reappear until
the autumn. These are two of the constellations that are classed
as the markers of the seasons. Jupiter, the largest planet of our
solar system, rises a couple of hours before dawn and is an amazing
sight to behold. Due to how the earth rotates upon its axis, soon
it will look as if the Great Bear, the Plough as some people know
it, will once again walk upon the earth.
The New Moon chart
The time of the great alchemical marriage of the Sun and Moon coming
together is happening once again. This new Moon falls in the sign
of Aries, the sign of the initiator. Marking a time of new beginnings,
a good time to sow the seeds for the future. Aries has a very impulsive
quality that lacks patience and gets bored very easily. Being a cardinal
sign, its job is to get things going and not necessarily seeing them
through to completion. This lunation falls in the first house of
the chart, backing up the spontaneous energy of Aries.
The Sun and Moon are separating from a square to Mars in Cancer; therefore
there is a competitive element to this chart that can be quite pushy,
forgetting to take other people into account. Aries likes to do things
its own way and Cancer is very aware of other people’s needs.
The Moon and Mars are in each other’s signs,
suggesting a dichotomy of how these two energies
express themselves. This is not the
most comfortable placement for the Moon, for the Moon shows us how
we like to be nurtured, how we react, and how we respond to any given
situation. The Moon reflects how we feel and our awareness of other
people’s feelings.
The placement of the Moon in Aries is quite uncomfortable and frustrated
and often can make rash decisions, taking a breathing space once it
has gone charging into situations. Thinking ‘Oh my God, how did I get
into this?’.
Neptune is exactly on the Aquarius ascendant
and the collective is tuning into the illusion
of having relationships through technology,
e.g. internet dating, texting, and sites like Second Life which allow
you to live out all your fantasies while sitting at your computer.
Something that I had not noticed, due to
the Neptune colouring the chart, is that
the New Moon is also in a T Square to Mars
and Jupiter. This
reflects the challenges that many people are experiencing on different
levels, making the Neptune ascendant contact a rather welcoming light
relief. It’s good to dream.
I leave you with a quotation from Margaret Koolman’s Soul Purpose Astrology:
‘A spark of life, tiny but usually bright, brave, with no thought for
the future, catching the eye for a moment, inspiring hope’.
Blessings of the New Moon to you all.
