Moon at 11˚ 32 ' Cancer
When l walk the land, l see how
rapidly everything has grown and is in abundance. The fields are
full of colour: the white and purple of the clover and the yellow
of the buttercups. The hedgerows are full of elderflower and the
apples are starting to appear on the trees in the orchard. How
lovely it is to lie down in the long grass and feel the earth beneath
you.
This is the first new Moon since the summer solstice. The time of
year when the Sun has reached its highest point in the northern hemisphere.
Solstice means to stand still and take stock. It’s a good time to
reflect on where we have come from and where we are going, giving
ourselves the time to just be.
The new Moon falls in Cancer in
the 2nd and is widely conjunct Venus and opposite Jupiter in Capricorn
in the 8th. Cancer is a very traditional sign and is influenced
by family values. The Moon being the ruler of Cancer is strongly
placed in this chart. Ones feelings and moods are very changeable
and sometimes it takes a Cancerian a while to know what they are
feeling. Our moods are affected by our feelings
but they can also be affected by what we eat. Issues around food
could be in the headlines and especially around the food that our
children eat. Everyone is becoming aware of the rising costs of food
and the knock on affect this is having on the family budget. The
Venus Jupiter opposition asks us to become aware of how we can cut
down on our waste and once again the question of sustainability is
raised. This is something l have been thinking of for a while and
the question l keep asking myself is what sustains me when the going
gets tough. Jupiter in Capricorn asks us to have a solid foundation
to our belief system and to be aware of the resources of the earth.
The banking crisis will be an issue as more houses are repossessed
and the credit crunch takes hold. We may get a bit of a rest bite
from it all as Pluto retreats back into Sagittarius lulling us into
a false sense of reality, giving us the impression that everything
is ok, only to find ourselves in a worst position in late November
when Pluto finally moves into Capricorn. Pluto’s short stay in Capricorn
has initiated us into what the future has in store for us. Some of
the way through this is to pool our resources and maybe to redefine
some of the old family values. Look to your community and see how
we can help each other.
Mercury is the chart ruler which is in its own sign of Gemini and
asks us to keep communications open and be aware of others points
of view. This placement adds to the changeability that is reflected
in this chart, so don’t take things for granted as everything can
change with the blink of an eye and someone might forget to tell
us that the goal posts have changed. The up and coming Mars Saturn
conjunction suggests that this changeability could cause a lot of
frustration, as things don’t happen quick enough. What a contradiction.
I leave you with a quote:
“Happiness is as a butterfly, which, when pursued, is always beyond
our grasp, but which if you will sit down quietly, may alight upon
you.”
Nathaniel Hawthorne
