New Moon
29th September 09.13 BST
Sun at 6˚ 33 ' Libra
Moon at 6˚ 33 ' Libra
Here we are a week after the Autumn Equinox, the days are getting
shorter and the nights are drawing in. The autumn equinox marks the
descent of the Sun into the southern hemisphere and is the start of
its journey south. Equinox comes from the word equal, which means to
be equally balanced, a state of becoming. This marks an important turning
point in the seasons of the year. Reflecting a time to take stock,
a time of coming back into ourselves. The colours of the earth are
rapidly changing and the farmers are working hard to get the harvest
in. The fields that were once full of crops are now being ploughed
revealing the bare earth. In many parish’s throughout England the autumn
harvest festivals will be taking place - ancient rites that give thanks
to the productivity of the earth.
The Night Sky
There have been some amazing clear nights lately, and one of them was
the night the Moon was conjunct Jupiter, what a fantastic sight to
behold. The Moon was actually lower in the sky than Jupiter. Even
though the Moon has moved on, Jupiter is still there to be seen shinning
really bright. Venus is in the west after sunset and l keep looking,
hoping to catch a glimpse. Soon we will also see Mars and if you’re
up before sunrise you will see Saturn.
The Chart of the New Moon
Libra is well emphasized with the new Moon taking place in this sign.
Mercury, Mars and the ascendant are also placed here. Venus and Mars
are in each others sign’s and Mercury is retrograde.
Libra is the sign of the diplomat and likes to weigh everything up
before it makes a decision, sometimes having the tendency to sit on
the fence. Venus had been playing host to all the planets in Libra
but now it has moved into Scorpio - the harsh reality regarding the
global financial system is now emerging (Thanks Lily). Mercury is retrograde
in Libra giving the suggestion of going back over old ground. With
Venus in Scorpio, the sign for banking and other people’s money, there
will be more money crisis headlines to come. People are feeling a lot
of pressure in their personal relationships. Apparently, love goes
out the window when there are money worries.
Erin Sullivan in "Retrograde" planets
says that when Mercury is retrograde in an air sign we focus on the
meaning of relationships in our lives. By paying close attention
to how we create associations, we can become aware of the patterns
we create in our lives, giving us a deeper awareness of the importance
of relating.
All the planets are contained within the approaching Saturn Uranus
opposition which is exact for the first time on the 4th November and
these two planets will have contact with each other for nearly 2 years.
This configuration is a challenge between the old and the new, giving
the feeling of being pulled in two directions at once. Lots of people
are aware that change is coming but are not quite sure of which direction
to take.
Pluto in Sagittarius is moving forward and finally leaves this sign
in late November. Is the legacy that it will leave behind, be of right
wing fundamentalists being elected into power?
The full Moon is on the 14th October at 21.02 BST. This chart has
Pluto sitting on the descendant which again reflects a lot of powerful
transformation in the area of relationships. This indicates that it
could be a very intense time, giving the feeling that we`ve lost the
control in our lives.
Remember to be gentle with yourselves and others.
I leave you with a quote from Zen Therapy by Robert Milton Anthony:
"Cosmic Scales
No person has more or less value than any other person in the universe,
or any living entity in the universe, or the universe itself."
Blessings of the new Moon to you all.
