New Moon
22nd July 03:36 BST
Sun at 29˚ 26' Cancer
Moon at 29˚ 26' Cancer
The Earth is alive and abundant with growth.
The fields are full with crops. The trees are bursting
with their leaves. There are so many different species
of flowers in bloom and the fragrances that fill the
air are divine. The apples are getting bigger, giving
the sense of an abundant harvest to come. How many different
shades of green can you see? How beautiful is this planet
that holds us, contains us and feeds us.
The Night Sky.
I was blessed to see the slither of the old Moon before
dawn on Solstice morning and two days later I saw the
slither of the new Moon in the sunset sky. What a treat.
Also to be seen on Solstice morn was the Venus/Mars conjunction.
Seeing the Moon/Jupiter conjunction nearly two weeks
later was a bonus. The heavens are alive with activity,
reflecting what is happening here on earth.
Eclipses
Over the next couple of months we will
experience a series of eclipses. These are very powerful
times we are living in. Ancient history is filled with
stories of how eclipses ended battles and wars and how
they coincided with the birth of important people.
Often people notice dramatic changes in their lives around
the times of solar and lunar eclipses, which leave an
impression that can have an effect for years to come.
The up and coming solar eclipse is the longest solar
eclipse for over a century. It will be visible from central
India, Nepal and China.
The new Moon chart.
This is the second new Moon in Cancer this
calendar month. With the Sun and Moon together in this
sign, the Sun being eclipsed by the Moon and both making
aspects to Pluto and Uranus, another important lunation
is upon us. The sign of Cancer governs the family, the
home and the past. Cancerians are very intuitive and
sensitive people; it is a cautious sign and their moods
are up one minute and down the next. Being a vulnerable
sign they retreat into their shell to ponder and brood
over problems until they feel safe enough to emerge.
Cancerians need to feel part of something and often need
something to fuss over. The security of their family
and home is very important to them. In Mundane astrology,
Cancer is the sign that rules the public and how they
feel.
For the last couple of days the headlines in the newspapers
here have been about the deaths that have happened in
Afghanistan. I have thought quite a lot about the losses
being experienced by these families and especially about
the really young men who have lost their lives. This
has given me feelings of regret at the waste of precious
life, all in the name of duty.
So once again l feel like the mood of the people could
be going through profound changes and with the Sun and
Moon in aspect to Uranus there sure to be an unexpected
element to this lunation.
The Jupiter, Neptune and Chiron conjunction
is also highlighted in this chart. I’m connecting this
configuration to the swine flu epidemic. It does make
me wonder about the pharmaceutical companies and their
involvement. I have heard that it might become compulsory
for everyone to have flu vaccinations. If this does come
to pass, I wonder what will happen to every ones freedom
of choice? This configuration is happening in the sign
of Aquarius. This sign is the rebel of the zodiac and
rules scientists. Maybe they have been messing around
with things that just don’t go together.
The Full Moon 6th August 2009.
The full Moon is a penumbral eclipse. Penumbra
means a partial outer shadow that is lighter than the
darker inner shadow (umbra), for example, the area between
complete darkness and complete light in an eclipse. So
the Moon will not be completely blocked out and if the
skies are clear we will be able to see this phenomena
happening.
This again is a very major lunation. The ancients saw
eclipses as having an ominous or prophetic significance.
I think that lunar eclipses affect our emotions and work
on a subconscious level, although due to the Moon being
blocked out by the earth’s shadow it could take some
time before we become aware of what’s going on.
The emphasis in the full Moon chart is once again on
the sign of Aquarius. With the Moon joining in with the
Jupiter, Neptune and Chiron line up, I feel that we will
be hearing more about the swine flu.
I leave you with a quote from ‘A Spiritual Approach to
Astrology by Myrna Lofthus ’. “..the picture used to
illustrate Aquarius is the water bearer. This confuses
many people into thinking that Aquarius is a water sign,
when its true element is air. Hebrew astrological law
calls Aquarius by the name Delphi, which means atonement
and baptism into spiritual life. The water bearer is
shown pouring water from an urn, signifying the pouring
of knowledge from the river of life, so that it can be
shared through serving humanity. In a sense, this can
be considered an act of atonement since Aquarians` goal
is the figurative baptizing of others with their philosophy
of life.”
Blessings of this powerful time to you all.
