New Moon
22nd June 20:36 BST
Sun at 1˚ 30' Cancer
Moon at 1˚ 30' Cancer
I dedicate this Moon report to Mel who departed this
world recently. Mel was a very vibrant and courageous lady.
Everything is growing so quickly. The countryside is ever changing.
The trees are covered with leaves. The fields are full of crops.
The bird song in the morning is fantastic. I’m really lucky to have
some really amazing walks around where I live. One of them is to
a really old oak tree that you can sit inside. The fields on the
way are covered in buttercups and this is a real delight to see.
The night sky.
The sun has been shining and what beautiful days we have
been having. The sunsets have been incredible; the colours in the sky
have been wonderful. The Moon has been looking beautiful and to see
the deep orange colour of the rising full Moon was truly spectacular.
If you’re up very early in the morning, you will get to see Venus and
Mars together in the eastern sky before dawn. Saturn is still our companion
during the night and if you’re up late you will also see Jupiter. The
heavens are alive with lots of activity. So below as above.
The Summer Solstice 21st June 06:47 BST.
The solstice marks a really important time of year. There
is evidence to suggest that a celebration would have been held at these
times that maybe would have lasted for two weeks, possibly either starting
or finishing with a new or full moon. People would gather to honour
the Sun, Moon, Earth and the seasonal time of year.
The word Solstice means to stand still and feel the stillness;
a time to stop, take stock and reflect on where we have come from and
were we going. A state of being.
For about four days around this time, the Sun’s height in, and path
through the sky stays the same, giving the impression that it is at
a standstill. The Sun’s declination stays the same for four days. [Declination
= the angular distance of an astronomical body measured in degrees
from the celestial equator along the great circle passing through it
and the celestial poles, i.e. how far north or south the Sun is, above
or below the Earth’s equator which becomes the celestial equator when
projected out into space.]
The energy of this time is a lot more outgoing and there
is summer madness in the air. It’s hard to believe that we are almost
half way through the year. It doesn’t seem that long ago that we came
out of the winter.
When the Sun enters one of the Cardinal signs, it initiates a really
important time in world affairs. Alfred Witte [Astrologer] saw the
Cardinal Cross as representing the Earth and our relationship to the
world in general. Charts set up for the Sun’s ingress into the Cardinal
signs are almost always found to be of value in the judging the development
of world affairs. The Cardinal signs are Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn.
“Ingress” means the moment when the Sun enters that sign.
The New Moon chart.
This is a very significant new Moon; a very powerful
lunation indeed. The new Moon happens about 33 hours after the solstice
point. It’s the first new Moon to happen in Cancer opposite Pluto which
gives it a very powerful and intense charge. Change is the order of
the day. For months we have watched the banks go through lots of changes
and now it’s the government’s turn. I don’t think we have seen the
end of the transformation that these bodies need to go through. The
accepted establishment is really being rocked. It’s time for a change.
The seeds are being sown. Uranus, the planet of change, is also significantly
placed in the line up with the Sun, Moon and Pluto. When Uranus is
involved we can expect the unexpected.
There is a lot of speculation about Gordon Brown going.
What does this mean? Will we have an early election? I wonder how the
people really feel. With the Sun and Moon in the 7th house, I do feel
aware that the public opinion will be come more apparent.
Cancer is the sign of the home of the family, and reflects the mood
of the people.
Sagittarius is on the ascendant and is the sign that
is associated with the making of laws whilst Pluto is not far behind
in Capricorn, the keeper of laws and the sign of authority. I feel
we will see some new laws coming about.
So maybe we will have an early election? Does it matter who gets in,
because we will only be facing the same problem we have now?
Saturn is the most elevated planet in the chart. It’s
time for us to face the reality of our part in the greater scheme of
things. We cannot go on blaming others for the problems that we are
now facing. Until we take self-responsibility the necessary changes
are not going to come about.
There is so much going on in the heavens. These are very
powerful times we are living in. Nearly everyone I know is going through
changes.
The Full Moon
Unfortunately we won’t see the eclipse of the Full Moon
on the 7th of July, from the British Isles. This again is a very major
lunation. The ancients saw eclipses as important portents of future
events. I feel that lunar eclipses affect our emotions and work on
a subconscious level, although due to the moon being blocked out by
the earth’s shadow, it could take some time before we become aware
of what’s going on.
In the chart of the full Moon, Saturn is rising in the first and Uranus
is setting in the 7th house. I want to leave you with a quote from
Tchenka [Jane Sunderland’s.] Astro Calendar 2009. “Open yourselves
to something completely different, even if those cold winds of space
and freedom blow open the doors you have securely closed against fear
and terror! Its time to expand your comfort zone and in doing so, your
confidence to work with new situations will grow.
Happy new Moon and blessings of the summer solstice to you all Linda
Day.
