How beautiful is this planet that we live on. Every day
I’m in a state of wonder at our home, planet Earth.
The Earth is alive with fresh growth. Blossom is appearing.
The sap is rising. The trees are becoming covered in new shoots. Birds
are making their nests. The days are becoming longer and warmer. Hooray.
It has felt like a really long winter.
The Night sky
How stunning the full Moon was. I love to bathe in the
light of the Moon. I am really lucky that I live in a place with no
streetlights. Venus is still adorning the evening sky. But not for
long, as it is retrograde and will soon disappear into the underworld.
She will return later in the year, reborn as the morning star. Saturn
is now visible all night. If you have the chance to look through a
telescope, this is a beautiful planet to see.
Spring Equinox 20th March 2009
0 degrees of Aries.
I am writing this article on the eve of the spring equinox.
This event is an important point in the astrological year.
Equinox comes from the word equal; the Vernal and the Autumnal equinoxes
are the midpoints between the summer and winter solstices. The time
of the Spring Equinox is when the sun crosses the celestial equator
from the southern hemisphere into the northern hemisphere. The sun
rises due east and sets due west and day and night are of equal length.
The sun is at 0 degrees of Aries, where it assumes a
new energy, a more powerful energy, making this a time of transition.
Aries is a Cardinal sign and all the Cardinal signs are initiators.
They are of fundamental importance and affect things on a basic level.
They urge us to take action. A new cycle is beginning and the Sun,
our solar hero, starts a fresh journey around the zodiac.
The new Moon Chart.
We are living in a really powerful time. The heavens
are full of activity. As above, so below. If ever there was a time
for change, that moment is now upon us.
The new Moon sees four of the personal planets in the
sign of Aries. The Sun, Moon, Mercury and Venus are all together squaring
Pluto in Capricorn. Transform, transform, transform is the message.
Aries the pioneer, the one who likes to initiate, can be very impulsive
and daring, often rushing headfirst into things. They give the impression
that things should have changed yesterday and if they haven’t, why
not? Aries likes to have an effect upon the world; its virtues are
optimism and a positive belief in its ability to master problems. Venus
together with the Sun and Moon, square Pluto highlight the on -going
economic problems. How much longer can they go on throwing money at
the situation? Money that the people haven’t got and neither has the
country.
Pluto in Capricorn reflects old structures changing and what was reliable
is not reliable anymore. The old gods of the heavens are not out to
give us a hard time; they are just saying it is a time for change.
I have been spending a lot of time thinking about Saturn
in Virgo. What I hear from people is how tired they are and how weary
they feel. Saturn in Virgo asks us to look at our relationship with
work, at how we give service not only to others but also to our selves.
We have so many gadgets that are meant to give us more time but in
fact take up more time. Saturn is the lord of time. I get that sense
that people are feeling very frustrated by the limitations of their
work situations, by always being under pressure and by not having enough
to go around. What ever happened to creative time and time for introspection?
Saturn is good at organizing time and so is Virgo and they both also
like respect. So we are being asked to give ourselves more time and
respect our bodies and in turn, this will give us the capacity to connect
more with our beautiful planet Earth.
Venus is retrograde until the 17th of April and is squaring
Pluto. She will be in this configuration until the first week in May.
It’s high time that we readdress our values. It makes me wonder if
we will be forced to have the euro as a currency.
The full Moon chart still reflects the on-going money
situation. The Libran full Moon suggests it a time to socialize with
friends and family, to relax and take a day off.
This week I went to a talk on health, wealth and green
living. Satish Kumar was there and he talked about the connection between
ecology and economy, Eco means home, logy means knowledge and nomy
means management and how they go hand in hand. You can’t have one with
out the other. Our planet is suffering and so is our economy. There
are people working on all sort of new and exciting projects. The power
is with the people. Start networking. Have a look at the work the
new economic foundation are doing. www.neweconomics.org.
Blessing of the new Moon, Thank you Tchenka and Tam for
your words of wisdom.
