The nights are drawing in
and the seasons are changing fast. The trees
are almost bare. The hedgerows have been cut.
The fields have been ploughed and the landscape
reveals its secrets. There are so many red
berries about; the hollies are full
of them, the hawthorns hold onto theirs and
there are plenty of rosehips around. Is the
Earth preparing us for another cold hard winter?
However nature does seem to be confused because
we have had a really mild October and in my
garden not only are the primroses are in flower
but the honeysuckle has fresh shoots and there
are even catkins on the hazel. So even through
the earth is becoming bare, the life force
continues. Blessings to the seeds that will
lie dormant in the soil until the spring.
The Night sky
There have been some exceptionally clear nights
with the Milky Way revealing its glories. I have
seen some amazing shooting stars with incredible
tails. It’s always fantastic to see the Moon and
the Moon/Jupiter conjunction was there to be observed
by everyone. If you are up past midnight you will
see Mars.
I love the skies at this time of year when my favorite constellations are visible.
The Great Bear [the Plough] starts its hibernation and points its feet upwards
instead of walking down on the land.
On the 17th November the Leonids meteor shower peaks. If it’s clear we could
have an opportunity to see this event.
This time of year
We are just past the cross-quarter festival of Samhain. Known as a power point
in time, it’s a time when the veil between this world and the other is thin.
All over the world people will have been remembering the people who have gone
before. It’s a good time to connect with our ancestors, to clear away the old
and come back into the depths of our selves. Rest and hibernate and dream of
the future that will be revealed as the earth turns and the light returns in
the spring.
The new Moon chart
We are living in very interesting times. As l have said in previous Moon reports
there is so much significant activity happening in the sky. We have profound
opportunities for change. The chart of the new Moon only has Pluto and the Moon’s
node in Earth signs, raising the possibility for me that the earth is not being
listened to. I have a friend who is a tree surgeon and he told me recently that
there are lots of changes happening to the trees.
The Sun Moon and Venus are all in the intense sign of Scorpio in the 5th house.
The 5th house is about how we play and enjoy ourselves. It has ruler ship over
gambling and speculation and love affairs. Scorpio is the sign that rules other
people’s money, obsession, control and power. Scorpio often reveals what’s hidden,
especially that which people don’t want to own in themselves. On the outside
Scorpios will always give the impression that they are in control, although it’s
completely different for them on the inside because there is often a volcano
of emotions swirling. Scorpio is a fixed water sign and the image that gives
me is one of an iceberg. Above the surface you only see a quarter of its volume
below the surface. Scorpios have a tremendous capacity for transformation and
have often had to walk where others fear to tread.
The Sun and Moon are in a square aspect to the on-going conjunction of Jupiter,
Chiron and Neptune in Aquarius, which is in the 9th house of the new Moon chart,
which makes me suspect that we could see some legislation affecting peoples’
leisure pursuits.
Jupiter and Neptune have been in conjunction since the 27th May 2009 and remain
in this configuration until 21st December 2009. Jupiter and Neptune have quite
a lot in common. They both can be quite idealistic and have grand ideas. Both
are faith oriented. Warm hearted and seemingly wanting the best for everyone,
Jupiter is religious whilst Neptune is mystical. Nearly everyone l come across
is having some kind of profound experience. There are major shifts happening
across the globe, some we are aware of and others that are still to come to
light. Right now l think that the majority of the people could do with some
sort of enlightening experience. Although l also think it’s a time to be aware
of false promises.
There is an up and coming Saturn/Pluto square taking place in the first degrees
of the cardinal signs on the 15th of November which in mundane astrology reflects
major changes in the world at large. When these two planets are making an aspect
with each other, they do not take things lightly and it’s not easy to get away
with things. They signify a make or break it time. Sue Tompkins says Saturn/Pluto
aspects often manifest, in personal terms, as a fear of power, either fear
of owning and expressing one’s own power or a fear of the havoc that collective
power can wreak. Saturn moved into Libra on the 29th of October and stays there
until the 7th of April 2010, when it moves back into Virgo until 21st of July
2010. When it finally moves back into Libra for a duration of two and half
years, Saturn will make a square aspect to Pluto 3 times all together. Hindsight
is a luxury, so it will be interesting to see how this combination manifests.
The Cancer ascendant of the new Moon chart reflects
the mood of the people. The question now is, how do
we nurture ourselves? The Capricorn descendant says
its all work and no play. So Saturn in Libra says we
need to find the balance and don’t be frightened of
going for what you want.
The full Moon 2nd December
The Sun is in Sagittarius and the Moon is in Gemini. I have the feeling from
this chart that international relationships will be very prominent in the news.
Due to the degree of the ascendant, aviation issues could also feature in the
media. The Sun, Moon and Saturn are very prominent in this chart, so l imagine
it will be a powerful full Moon.
So l leave you with a quote. “We cannot solve the problems we have created with
the same thinking that created them.” Albert Einstein.
Blessing of this powerful time to you all. Linda Day.
