New Moon 14th February 02:51 GMT

Sun at 25° 18' Aquarius
Moon at 25° 18' Aquarius

I dedicate this new Moonthly Forecast to my Aquarian friend Suze Da Blooze.

The first quiver within the earth has started. The beautiful snowdrops have come again. The life force of the earth, which has been resting under ground, is returning to the surface for all to see. The daffodils shoots are just peeking out and the hedgerows are full of lovely golden catkins hanging from the hazel. The birds are full of song. The harshness of the winter is starting to become a memory - which seems hard to believe now. In Herefordshire,UK, we had so much snow that I couldn’t get my vehicle out onto the road for 4 weeks!

The Night sky

Mars, the red planet, followed by Saturn have been the companions of our evening skies. The Moon has been really bright and it was great to see its conjunction with Mars at its fullness. The Plough, which is also known as the Great Bear, is in its “hibernating” position, that is to say it has its “legs” pointing upwards, away from the earth. This impressive group of stars never sets and is known as a circumpolar constellation. Two of its stars are named “the pointers” because they always point to the North Star [also known as the Pole Star]. The Pole Star is about half way between the Plough and the beautiful constellation Cassiopeia, which looks like a W. These two constellations are the continual companions of the North Star. When one is high in the sky the other is low. I love observing their continual dance around Polaris, the North Star, which in many traditions is known as the point of stillness.

Imbolc

Imbolc fell on the 3rd of February when the Sun was at 15 degrees of Aquarius. This is one of the ancient fire festivals, known as a cross quarter day. A time when the veil between the worlds is thin. Imbolc is the midpoint between the winter solstice and the spring equinox; the days are noticeably longer and the earth is getting warmer. This is the festival of light and renewed growth.

Imbolc or Brides day is the time when the goddess remerges as the young Brigit/bride bringing the return of the greenery of nature.

Brigit has a triple aspect to her; she is the patron of poets, healers and smiths. She was the triple goddess of the Celts, who always kept a sacred fire lit. Imbolc means lustration, which means to make somebody or something spiritually pure by means of a special religious ceremony or to purify by ritual cleansing or offerings.

New Moon

The new Moon this month takes place on Valentines Day, traditionally the day when birds mate. It falls in Aquarius in the second house. Aquarius is often said to be the sign of the rebel. Aquarians protest by defying a government or any other form of authority, refusing to conform to the usual codes and conventions of society. They like to do things their own way. Aquarius is very futuristic orientated. They have visions, which can be very unconventional and idealistic. They are group minded; friendship and truth are of utmost importance to them. Aquarius questions the status quo and challenges assumptions, waking people up. Aquarius wants to contribute to the greater good and so it searches for the truthful meaning in the collective.

The Sun and Moon are together with Neptune and Chiron. When Neptune’s influence is so strong, we must look for a tendency to be in denial and become deceitful. Is there within the collective an inability or refusal to accept something that is the case?

Neptune and Chiron are conjunct for a long time. Melanie Reinhart writes that this combination can bring about the feeling of being victimized, angry, depressed and confused. This suggests that we might feel unable to stand up for our needs and our selves. I do wonder if the collective is feeling like this. Some people that I have come into contact with feel weary and feel powerless in their personal situations. Melanie goes on to say, that Chiron and Neptune can give a finely tuned perception of other realities and an ability to use this for the good of others. So remember to pay attention to your dreams; they are important.
Mars is still retrograde and stays retrograde until the 10th of March, giving us the ongoing opportunity to review how we go about getting what we want.

Saturn and Pluto are still squaring up to each other, asking us if we have learnt the lessons of the past. Liz Green says these two planets are both related to the process of growth in consciousness, which is always accompanied by struggle.

Full Moon

The chart of the full Moon is very different. This is the Virgo full Moon, which is a time of assimilation. Be attentive to the small detail. Honour your routines and connect with the earth. Jupiter has joined with the Sun in time for its opposition to the Moon. Jupiter is now in its own sign of Pisces, which it entered on the 18th of January. This merger of the solar and jovian energies creates a very optimistic atmosphere. The combination of the Sun and Jupiter here is very charitable, opportunist and visionary but whenever Jupiter touches another planet, there can also be a tendency to go overboard and make a mountain out of a molehill – so it’s important to keep things in proportion. Nevertheless, when these two planets are together, they always know how to make a good situation out of a bad one. It’s time to counting our blessings.

I leave you with this image for the integration of a Piscean Sun with a Virgoan Moon from Sun sign, Moon sign by Charles and Suzi Harvey -
”A mosaic picture of the universe, each piece perfect in itself…Small events bring enormous consequences…Faith and reason shake hands”

Blessings of this time to you all. Linda Day
