New Moon
3rd June 20.24 BST
Sun at 13˚ 34 ' Gemini
Moon at 13˚ 34 ' Gemini
This chart and interpretation are set for London,
UK
The gardens are alive with growth and the
land is filled with many different colours.
There are numerous shades of green; all the
trees except for the ash are full of foliage.
There’s a saying that goes: oak before ash
we’re in for a splash; ash before oak we are
in for a soak. I don’t think l have ever seen
the ash out before the oak. Although
at the moment, we are experiencing a lot of
rain. Yesterday, l noticed the river Wye was
quite high again.
The night sky
Mars and Saturn are getting closer and closer
together and will conjunct in early July. They
are visible in the sky just after sunset and
Jupiter will rise a few hours later. Of course,
a few days after the new Moon it’s always exciting
to catch a glimpse of the slither of the Moon.
The chart of the new Moon
The Sun and Moon are conjunct Mercury and
Venus in the 7th and sextile Mars in the 8th
in Leo. In one way or another, all the personal
planets are involved with each other in this
lunation. Mercury the ruler of the new Moon
is retrograde and will be until the 19th June,
the day after the next full Moon. Gemini and
Mercury rule communication and commerce. On
the 27th May, the Guardian ran the headlines:
“Crisis talks on global food prices”. The
price of rice has doubled since January and
dairy products, soya, wheat and sugar have
all seen increases in cost. The article highlights
the affect this is having on the poorer countries
of the world. The British public are also having
to tighten their belts. The cost of diesel
and petrol rise daily, the cost of basic foods
are rising and apparently the travel industry
has come to a stand still. Over the coming
months, we will see more articles like that
one.
The chart of the new Moon has Sagittarius
rising and Jupiter the chart ruler is in Capricorn
in the 2nd unaspected except to Uranus. The
ascendant is 5˚ Sagittarius, which is classed
as the degree of flight. So, issues around
aviation fuel could be in the headlines. Jupiter
binds us and helps us to feel connected to
other people through our beliefs. In Capricorn,
Jupiter is asking us to take a look at our
beliefs around our basic structures. Jupiter’s
over indulgence can lead to excess, waste and
sloppiness, giving the feeling it’s above the
law.
Pluto has dipped its toe into Capricorn and
is now on its way back to Sagittarius. Its
short duration in Capricorn has highlighted
the issue of sustainability. By the time of
the full Moon on the 18th June, it’s back in
Sagittarius conjunct the full Moon and opposite
the Sun and Venus, highlighting the money crisis.
At the new Moon, watch the news headlines
as we are likely to see a repetition around
the 18th June, when Mercury retrogrades to
13˚, the same degree as the New Moon. Don’t
forget Mercury retrograde delays communication,
plans can go awry, directions can be misunderstood
and traffic jams can be more of an issue.
On a final note, the Dalai Lama has been here
giving talks about finding inner happiness.
He highlights how small the world has become
and the ever increasing demands on the environment. How
we need to become more aware of how we affect
each other and thus become more community minded.
I leave you with a quote:

New Moon
3rd July 03.20 BST
Sun at 11˚ 32 ' Cancer
Moon at 11˚ 32 ' Cancer

When l walk the land, l see how rapidly everything
has grown and is in abundance. The fields are
full of colour: the white and purple of the
clover and the yellow of the buttercups. The
hedgerows are full of elderflower and the apples
are starting to appear on the trees in the
orchard. How lovely it is to lie down in the
long grass and feel the earth beneath you.
This is the first new Moon since the summer
solstice. The time of year when the Sun has
reached its highest point in the northern hemisphere.
Solstice means to stand still and take stock.
It’s a good time to reflect on where we have
come from and where we are going, giving ourselves
the time to just be.
The new Moon falls in Cancer in the 2nd and
is widely conjunct Venus and opposite Jupiter
in Capricorn in the 8th. Cancer is a very traditional
sign and is influenced by family values. The
Moon being the ruler of Cancer is strongly
placed in this chart. Ones feelings and moods
are very changeable and sometimes it takes
a Cancerian a while to know what they are feeling.
Our moods are affected by our feelings
but they can also be affected by what we eat.
Issues around food could be in the headlines
and especially around the food that our children
eat. Everyone is becoming aware of the rising
costs of food and the knock on affect this
is having on the family budget. The Venus
Jupiter opposition asks us to become aware
of how we can cut down on our waste and once
again the question of sustainability is raised.
This is something l have been thinking of for
a while and the question l keep asking myself
is what sustains me when the going gets tough.
Jupiter in Capricorn asks us to have a solid
foundation to our belief system and to be aware
of the resources of the earth.
The banking crisis will be an issue as more
houses are repossessed and the credit crunch
takes hold. We may get a bit of a rest bite
from it all as Pluto retreats back into Sagittarius
lulling us into a false sense of reality, giving
us the impression that everything is ok, only
to find ourselves in a worst position in late
November when Pluto finally moves into Capricorn.
Pluto’s short stay in Capricorn has initiated
us into what the future has in store for us.
Some of the way through this is to pool our
resources and maybe to redefine some of the
old family values. Look to your community and
see how we can help each other.
Mercury is the chart ruler which is in its
own sign of Gemini and asks us to keep communications
open and be aware of others points of view.
This placement adds to the changeability that
is reflected in this chart, so don’t take things
for granted as everything can change with the
blink of an eye and someone might forget to
tell us that the goal posts have changed. The
up and coming Mars Saturn conjunction suggests
that this changeability could cause a lot of
frustration, as things don’t happen quick enough.
What a contradiction.
I leave you with a quote:
“Happiness is as a butterfly, which, when pursued,
is always beyond our grasp, but which if
you will sit down quietly, may alight upon
you.”
Nathaniel Hawthorne
