Leo New Moon 21st August 2017
The New Moon is on August 21st at 19:30 (BST). The second New Moon in Leo for this year – 28 degrees and 52 minutes of Leo.
“I have been roaring since 24th July (first New Moon in Leo), and my roar is now louder and more intense. I am eclipsing the Sun (Full Solar Eclipse). I demand that you take notice of my energy. Make your wishes and intentions at this moment very carefully indeed. Use your heart, not your head to decide what further needs to be done on your own personal path and towards your contribution to the world. I continue to protect the family of humanity to the best of my ability. I call in the power from the Universe for you. Be open to my inspiration.”
The events of this New Moon Solar Eclipse will affect the whole world, to a greater or lesser degree over the next six months. This is intensely masculine energy, traditionally egotistical and demonstrative in nature, intensified by the Full Solar Eclipse. Leo is ‘in charge’. Greedily, confidently – he takes a second month for his own, flanked this month by the North Node and Mars in Leo on one side and the energy of a Virgo Mercury on the other. He brings the message of strong and fiery conviction and action, of intensity, of excitement and enthusiasm, of potentially uncontrollable passion and fierceness, of potential, wondrous joy and creativity – in all that he started at the beginning of last month and more – as he stands at the gateway to the next Lunar Month.
Leo is the fifth sign of the zodiac, ruled by the Sun, fiery and fixed in quality, the ruler of the heart and encapsulating all that is demonstrative, energetic, self-seeking and self – confident in the Universe – wild creativity which, if used positively and with a dignified awareness of ego, can take us energetically forward. If fierceness and passion morph into anger and violence, explosive reactions and long term repercussions could occur on all levels. So – the image is of the Lion, his eyes expressing both fierceness and protectiveness at once, calling in the energy of creativity from the Universe to humanity.
There is also huge potential love and warmth and, also, loss of control which could result in uncontrolled anger and dangerous consequences. It’s a time to both let go and to receive. I imagine a direct channel between ourselves and the Universe in 3 phases of this moment. At Stage 1, it’s full of all effluent waste we must get rid of – passing through and dissolving way out in the Universe. In Stage 2, the channel is empty and expectant. Here is a need for Trust in the best that can happen. Stage 3 welcomes the new energy that will flood in from the Universe to ourselves, renewing and positive.
We should perhaps be very aware of the need to be specific and careful as we make our wishes, intentions and affirmations for the coming Lunar Month, perhaps calling on the closeness of the sign of Virgo, earthy and feminine in nature, which is waiting to welcome the passage of the Moon, just 28 minutes away from the point of eclipse to help to stabilise our focus.
- I let go of the strongest, most frustrating and angry wounds from the past with confidence and courage, allowing my emotions freedom within this moment. (potential for screaming, punching a pillow, wild dancing etc)
- I welcome the significance of this moment, opening myself with trust to the new energy and receiving positivity from the Universe.
- My inspiration is strong and creative at this time. I affirm my desire to act on ideas and insights that I receive, to accept inspiration and to walk forward with courage.
- I resolve to look after myself and those I care about with love and attention, enjoying the moments I share with them with joy and abandon.
- I will break through any barriers that I have encountered, will rid myself of doubts and will overcome difficulties confidently both now and in the future.
- I consider the reasons for any pain that I may have experienced (significantly around the time of the Lunar Eclipse on 7th August) and aspire to understand how this may have helped me to grow.
- I recognise my own true desires and what makes me feel most empowered and enthusiastic about my life. I seek clarity and resolve surrounding the true nature of my life’s purpose.
- I recognise that this is a time of general ‘hot bloodedness’. I will avoid hurting others with the strength of my passions and emotions when experiencing extremes of both joy and anger.
- I resolve to look after my heart, both emotionally and physically.
IN A MUNDANE KIND OF WAY
This New Moon, together with the Eclipse, is full of potentially strong energy that is likely to lead to seriously significant events, both in our personal lives and in the world, and having repercussions that are also likely to affect us into the future (also conjunct the North Node). Both Saturn and Jupiter are high in the sky from the vantage point of the UK at this moment and both will make their presences keenly felt. Structures must be rebuilt, outmoded structures abandoned and a fierce, global roar for justice and power continues. New models for just and fair behaviour are urgently needed at this point in time and are too vital and poignant to ignore. The New Moon Eclipse is also trine Uranus, heralding unexpected events, rebellions! Positively, it’s time to ‘get real’!
We can expect intense events to continue to unfold throughout the coming Lunar Month. We cannot underestimate the importance of seeking to develop global fairness and compassion in how we conduct ourselves. This double whammy of Leo New Moons together with a full Solar Eclipse underlines the fierceness and urgency of our purpose. A conjunction with the North Node always signifies important, life changing events. This Eclipse is also (amazingly) conjunct the fixed star, Regulus – known to be the heart of Leo, the Lion.
Although the Eclipse is not visible from the UK, it is the first Solar Eclipse to be visible coast to coast in the USA since 1776, we are all reacting to the intensity of the same Leo Solar Eclipse. In regard to current world events, we are having our senses drenched in the same Cosmic dust. Those people whose ideas and sense of ‘right and wrong’ might be very different from our own – and all those on a spectrum of belief systems in between – are receiving energy containing the same qualities. Ideas seem to be anything but ‘in tune’ globally and the intensity of the present astrological situation becomes particularly significant in regards to people who hold the power. What seem like valid ‘final solutions’ to some (including decisions that involve violence or the threat of violence with possible hideous, non reversible consequences to the whole world) in response to these ‘cosmic bombardments’, will seem like ludicrous, inhumane and nonsensical solutions to others.
The New Moon and Solar Eclipse is conjunct Donald Trump’s Ascendant (29 degrees 55 minutes of Leo with North Node, Mars in Leo – Mercury retrograde in Virgo)). Having been born at the time of a Lunar Eclipse anyway, this moment is likely to have particular significance for him. We are all aware that the personal journey of someone in such a position of power in our world has the potential to affect everyone. ‘Appearances’ on every level – how he is perceived and the lens through which he sees the world – at this moment are drenched in the influence of the moment (the energies already described above). Unfortunately, (or fortunately) there is every indication that he could either ‘explode’ or ‘implode’ as a result of the energy. There are several other significant points of contact between his chart and the chart of the moment. We can take comfort in the fact that Trump’s Sun/North Node/Uranus opposition to his Moon/South Node is conjunct Saturn and there will be some control exerted over his ‘naturally’ impulsive nature. Retrograde Mercury in Virgo can ‘trip up’ those whose egos are out of control and can bring serious ‘reality checks’. The Moon herself will soon pass into Virgo – good sense prevailing as Virgo brings a sense of practicality and ‘service’.
Certainly, under the looming presence of the North Node, everyone is likely to become aware of the huge importance of this moment for the future of our world. Although there is potential for us all to be ‘brought to the brink’, it’s also possible that the balance of power within the world could suddenly change for the better. Positively, our life purposes will become clearer and this is, potentially, a vital, intense and wonderful time – particularly for all things creative. Artists are likely to feel energised to ‘make’ and ‘do’ everything expressive of all that passion and Leonine beauty – despite whatever else may be going on in the world. It is a moment where perhaps we might all need to hold our breath and TRUST in positivity – both individually and as part of collective humanity.
This month, those of us with awareness, love and sense of the spiritual side of being Human are being called upon to save the world with our resolve, our clarity, our confidence and our beautiful, colourful, expressive egos. There can be no better reason for doing this than to save the World.……
