New Moon in Cancer 5th July 23:57
Full Moon in Capricorn 21st July
The New Moon in Cancer is in conjunction with Venus. We are offered what we truly need – nurturing, understanding and care. Under this New Moon, we feel compelled to build up a world around ourselves where we feel safe. To grow ourselves a cosy cocoon to rest and regenerate, in-order-to recreate ourselves as whole. The New Moon in Cancer has a profoundly maternal energy. With Venus’ influence, we are being encouraged to feather our metaphorical nest and to prepare for a beautiful new arrival in our lives, in the form of a New Moon Blessing. Cardinal Cancerian energy is flowing now. From a place of empathy and compassion, it prompts us to take the initiative to create something new. This is no easy job, but it promises to be deeply rewarding.
Maternal energy does not just flow through women, or through those of us who become biological mothers. We are all blessed with a part of ourselves which is ruled over by the sign of the Crab. It is where we nurture and take care of what we feel is most important. Where we foster our intuition and prioritise our time in-order-to grow something in our life to its fullest potential. It is where we find our sense of home, and creative purpose. Even if we do not know first-hand the work which comes from caring for a newborn human infant, we all know the feeling of giving our all. Of utterly sacrificing to the sole purpose of raising something which we feel in our soul comes through us. We can all relate to the relentless work it takes to nurture something from that first spark of life to a point of relative independence. Venus and this New Moon are reminding us that such work is a privilege. To be immersed in the process of raising an idea, an intention, a creation, is undoubtedly extremely hard work. It is also hard to know when to let go, to trust that we have done what we can and to step back enough to allow a new phase of development to begin.
This New Moon in Cancer is encouraging us to remember where we came from. How strong we are. When things feel tough, we are tougher. Such toughness only comes from knowing our inner self well enough to honour our vulnerability. To let emotions carry us forward, and back, like a tide. To move when we are called to move and to do what feels right. With this flow of cosmic Cancerian support, we grow a little wiser every time we allow our feelings to wash over us. In a caring way, the New Moon brings us to a place which is right for us. The Universe knows what is best. Connecting with our intuition allows us to surrender to that higher power of the Mother. To trust that the goddess who birthed us knows what we need and will stop at nothing to provide it. Whatever our relationship is with our own maternal figures, here on Earth, the Moon in this role gives us truly unconditional love. Reborn now in Cancer, in conjunction with beautiful, peaceful Venus, the Moon’s love is re-energised. It flows like milk, ready for us to tap into and to drink what we need to heal the hurts from this planet. Healing energy flows into us and supports us to grow stronger.
In this chart, the trine to Saturn in Pisces is immersing us in the waters of healing. There is a powerful connection to karmic energy of the past. This Moon has a long memory. Under this New Moon we are drawn to reflect on where we are coming from and to set intentions to protect ourselves from previous harsh experiences. To use those memories to fuel us and sustain our desire for a future where we can be whole and secure. There is a fierce and powerful cosmic wave of protective force being cast over what we create now, and the intentions and decisions we make under this Moon. Comfort comes when we can accept ourselves for who we are and the past for what it has been. When we are at peace with ourselves and we commit to putting our own needs first, we attract people and situations towards us which value and nurture us too. Choices made under the energy of this New Moon have great power to shape where we go next. When the Moon moves through Cancer, she brings our focus to protecting ourselves. Cancerian energy is acutely self-aware of where we perceive ourselves to be sensitive. The Cancerian urge to conceal vulnerability with a show of tough exterior and to hunker down under a shell is being exacerbated by Saturn. The urge to preserve ourselves through self-compassion and bending to the flow of the world allows us to keep our hearts safe.
The Sun and Moon conjoined in this sign embody the Cancerian strength of spirit. Although, the Crab is tough and cardinal, it is extremely sensitive and will cling to its position of defence. This alignment connects with a harmonious sextile to Mars and Uranus – conjunct in Taurus. This brings a surprising amount of power to break free, to push for truth and stability. It is blessing us with the energy we need to dig in our heels and to demand to be liberated from where we feel stuck. We are focused on taking action to bring us comfort.
Guided Meditation
Imagine yourself for a moment on a warm day at the beach. It is quiet here, late afternoon. There is nobody else around. Ahead of you, a beautiful ocean, vast and powerful, stretches towards a clear horizon. Here, where you stand, in the sand, right at the point where the tide meets earth, you are poised for a great creative journey. Feel the warm Sun on your face and the breeze on your skin as the tide washes over your toes. With each wave that laps, gentle and bubbly over your feet, grains of sand shift and you sink deeper, more comfortable into your position. Here, in this moment, you are protected by all of the elements. You have the support of the Universe. Backwards and forwards the sea moves in, and out. Each time, bringing to you healing comfort. Taking with it, like a sigh of relief, all that has hurt. The burdens you carry. Let them go, wave by wave. Take your time. There is no limit on this healing, no alarm which tells you it’s time to move on. Just focus on your breath and the sighing, healing, soothing tides. Earth beneath your feet holds you steady. Water all around you, laps lovingly and soothes the aches in your body and soul. The Sun, warm and powerful, is sinking lower now, tinging the clouds pink. You can relax, trusting in the knowledge that it will always rise again, ready for another day. Venus and the Moon may not be visible but, if you quieten your mind, you can feel their presence. Goddesses hand in hand, in the sky, wishing you well and working magic into your world. They are blessing you with their abundant love. They are happy to see you. The universe is grateful for your presence and your beautiful heart and soul. You are enough. You are protected and supported here on your peaceful beach under a beautiful sky.
