New Moon in Aquarius 11th February 19:06 (GMT)
Full Moon in Leo 28th January
“There are things known and there are things unknown, and in between are the doors of perception.” Aldous Huxley
We are contained within a vessel, held high on the shoulder of Aquarius. We move with the motion of his body. Within the vessel, we swirl within other realities that are spawning within the dissolving patterns of the past. We begin to dream again of the future. This Lunar Month, humanity continues to metamorphose in time to the rhythm of the planets. Whispers of change beckon us towards a future we are yet to recognise.
There are six planets in Aquarius at the moment of New Moon on 11th February – Saturn, Jupiter, Venus, Mercury and the New Moon (Sun conjunct Moon) herself. This is a power- house of Aquarian energy. The ‘shift of gears’ has been a long time arriving and now, it gains momentum. Gentler, brighter, more contemporary and forward-looking, we experience the change of energy like a breath of fresh air flowing into a stuffy room. Mental activity accelerates and we are inspired. Suddenly, we find we are moving, thinking and dreaming faster! We remain aware of ominous sounds from the loud, clunking changes of gear in the outside world but, at last, we begin to imagine and to dream of the future. We are aware of the possibilities of new innovation and changes in lifestyle that will take us forward. We adjust, with small wriggles, into more comfortable positions that are suited to the new energy. At the moment of New Moon, Mercury remains retrograde. We have time to think and consider before we act (Mercury direct on 20th).
Aquarius is an Air sign, masculine, fixed and ruled by Uranus. He is a rebel, an individual who encourages the uniqueness within all of us. He seeks reality and truth. He is in tune with the flow of thoughts and of ‘trend’. He looks to the future, to better ways for humanity to survive successfully, healthily and with the needs of everyone in mind. He can be cool and detached. He embraces new technologies and ideas. He can be object yet is always humanitarian. He has the kind of perception necessary to visualise a different kind of future. He makes those of us who have been stuck in old habits, structures and concepts feel uncomfortable in our complacency. He forces us to sit up and take notice – and shift. We need his energy!
It seems that we must all shift sideways to find a new perspective – like moving to the empty seat next to the window on the plane or bus in order to see the view outside more clearly! The objects and issues focussed on consequently and naturally change. Then we begin to make changes more in tune with our adjusted viewpoint. We may suddenly become motivated to do those things that we have put off – what we’ve always meant to do but have never got round to. This Lunar Month, there are new, important intentions to make. Wishes made at such a potent time are likely to have far reaching consequences. What do you want to aspire to this lunar month? Here are some suggestions to consider:
“We are born into a dream – and spend our lives looking for ourselves within that dream.”
Suggested meditation: It is often as difficult to accept our own talents and potential as it is to accept what we might consider to be our failings! The question, “Who am I?” is very relevant at this moment. Open with awareness to the energy of the New Moon and allow yourself to acknowledge the truth of the answers you receive. Acceptance of who we truly are brings change!
IN A MUNDANE KIND OF WAY
We have been coping with the consequences of prolonged and intense Capricorn energy throughout 2020. We have felt overloaded, confused and supressed. Like children, forced to stay in our classrooms until we have learned our lessons, we may have felt restricted, fearful and angry at the imposition on our freedom and the reasoning behind it. Some of us have felt this was unnecessary and some didn’t trust that our ‘teachers’ knew what they were doing. Some of us have rebelled, some ‘did as they were told’ and some have made up their own minds and done what they thought to be right. We have all, perhaps, learned lessons that have made us more aware of the reasons society is ‘as it is’ at this point in time.
Through January, we experienced outbursts, violence and general social and political unrest. The pandemic continued to rage. It was, so obviously, not ‘all over’ yet. As a result of lessons learned from the Covid epidemic, individuals, Nations and their leaders may understand better the need to re-organise their structures and to address crisis caused by global pandemics and the polarisations of beliefs and value systems. Within the astrological energy of the approaching Lunar Month, we begin to see our way forward more clearly.
Mars, inconjunct the South Node in Sagittarius, reflects both the anger of many towards out-dated structures and the resistance from some to change the ‘status quo’. Pluto continues to hold back the Aquarian push to ‘move on’ (Pluto remains in Capricorn at 25 degrees and will not move into Aquarius until 2023) and, perhaps, ‘brakes’ on action are necessary for a while longer until the collective consciousness catches up with the reality of the problems we have created! There are huge adjustments to make as a result of what we have learned and perhaps we need to be careful not to metaphorically ‘throw the baby out with the bath water’ as we move forward – by leaving the more valuable and established structures behind that could be useful in the future.
The final fissures in structures that are initiating vital changes will be ongoing for a while, with the daily news still seeming to bring ever more problems. The approaching lunar month, however, brings hope. Saturn will be exactly square Uranus (Taurus) on 17th February and tension is likely to peak, creating outbreaks of emotions that bring disruption and unrest to a zenith – after which the tension is likely to ease. Mars (action), also in practical Taurus with Uranus (rebellion) brings an outlet of more frustration. The potential of finding practical solutions to problems is frustrated. The energy also waits for Mercury to find resolution. At the point of New Moon, he is still retrograde and is square Mars, adding to the tension. Social behaviour and leaders of nations are likely to reflect confusion. It will be a relief when, on 21st, he moves forwards and decisions and plans can get under way. Action! Direction! We will be accelerating, at last, in a forward direction!
There is such a heralded potential for ‘good sense’ and calm to return within the astrological landscape of the New Moon in Aquarius. The Nodal axis (Gemini/Sagittarius) square Neptune in Pisces forms a T square in the heavens. We are guided to raise our spiritual vibrations and to look to the heavens for solutions. The concentration of planets in Aquarius contributes energetically to the positive metamorphosis of our changing world. Inevitably, the degree of the New Moon (23˚ of Aquarius) is emphasised by the concentration of planets – and inevitably, the energy of this significant New Moon will affect the energy of the cycles carried by Mercury, Venus, Jupiter and Saturn. This moment has far-reaching consequences. Saturn, the wise and thorough teacher, will be the last planet of the group to eventually pass by the 23˚ placement, ensuring that lessons have been completed and we can leave the classroom!
Throughout the New Moon cycle, politicians, influenced (mostly unconsciously!) by the movements of the stars and planets – and forced by circumstances – are likely to, at last, take stock of reality and work to create structures that will improve the chaotic present and ensure the ‘shifted’ future. How will new concepts, solutions and changes manifest? That will be interesting. As individuals, with our own aspirations, dreams and innovations, we consciously play our part in the creation of a better future. We look out of the window and up to the sky, seeing things with more clarity, more knowledge and with more inspiration than ever before.
We celebrate our own uniqueness as we move into a future that we create.
