Here comes an opportunity to contribute new ideas and solutions towards a fairer and more balanced humanity by communicating our ideas with others. Let’s fire Aquarian flowers of positivity, good sense and innovation into the collective consciousness!
The New Moon in Aquarius on 28th January will call in the magic of love, peace and the increased ‘one-ness’ of all of humanity. Perhaps our battered souls can open up by using the portal of an echo of the spirit of 1968. There’s an opportunity to charge the collective consciousness with positive energy and a sense of goodwill, with Brotherhood and Sisterhood. Maybe an Aquarian month charged with Love is all we need! Time perhaps to tune in without dropping out (although that may be tempting at the moment!) In Britain, if we can’t stay up until 00.06am on the night of the 27/28th, let’s wake up early to contemplate our intentions and focus the energy on Peace and Love for the coming lunar cycle before it gets moving!
The image is of a human being gently pouring water from a container into a smoothly flowing river – confusing if you know that Aquarius is an Air sign – but not so much if you think of the container being full of the fluid essence of the whole of humanity mixed together in one beautiful collective consciousness, a mixture of energies and ideas, some of which have already made love and gestated before being poured out into the river of consciousness. It’s our job this month, as conscious beings, to filter the positive ideas from the negative and to share the good ones. Aquarius, ruled by Uranus like the Moon herself, is intuitive and feeling – whilst having another side that is rational and cool. His energy fires creators to invent (scientific or creative), political reformers to reform, visionaries to inspire, rebels to rebel and innovators to come up with ingenious and unusual solutions. In addition, the days are getting lighter and the seeds in the earth are vibrating and gestating new life and new beginnings despite recent ice, snow – and the deaths of people we all seem to have been affected by. Time to look out for the new miracles that are ready to be born.

- How can I best manifest my own creative uniqueness (the ‘genius’ within me!) through both my innovative and rational self?
- How can I balance my feminine and masculine sides – yin and yang – most effectively in order to bring balance to ‘the table’ of my life? (Mars/Venus conjunction at time of New Moon)
- How can I ‘become the change I want to see’? (a charged and direct Mercury conjunct Pluto at the New Moon)
- What, intuitively, are the issues that I’m seeking solutions to (both personal, social and environmental)?
- What groups or gatherings of like mind could I join or initiate in order to brainstorm and to manifest innovative, creative, scientific, environmental or social/political ideas?
- How can I rise above my own personal myths, concepts, ideas, habits and patterns (those I have imposed upon myself or had imposed upon me) in order that I can become the freest and most creative person I can be?
- What can I do that will most contribute to my own personal sense of FREEDOM?
Aquarius is an Air sign – a thinking and communicating sign. It is also a Fixed sign, in the case of this Aquarius’ New Moon, a collective melting pot of ideas bubbling out of collective thinking and intuition ready to be poured. It works towards creating fairness and improved conditions for humanity as a whole. It brings the energy of increased telepathic contact, communications and innovative inventions – and events where the collective consciousness manifests itself in the strong expression of collective opinion. It brings with it a vision of a freer and more equal society.
The energy of the Aquarius New Moon also brings awareness of a magnified need for yin and yang/male and female balance. (Saturn square Venus/Mars conjunction. Saturn and Venus/Mars conjunction semi square New Moon and Jupiter in Libra opposing Uranus in Aries). A significant stellium in visionary and spiritual Pisces at the time of this New Moon, brings increased spiritual awareness towards both the wounds and healing of victims of conflict and unfair prejudice. Pluto is conjunct Mercury at the point of the New Moon. Our communications (and even our thoughts) at this point could have both powerful and transformational consequences!
IN A MUNDANE KIND OF WAY
The New Moon in Aquarius is likely to bring some big surprising events, promoting dilemmas and discussions for us all on both a personal and global level. Talk about outer space might feature – even potential signals from Outer Space! Increased environmental awareness may occur as a result of surprising environmental events. We need to ‘hold onto our seats’ and believe that logic will prevail once the expressions of potentially ‘nutty’ solutions to problems, both technical and social – a rebellion, both right and left, eventually calm down. There’s thankfully some cool rationality, fairness and good sense present, underlying the noise of confusion, which brings with it the ability to stand back and objectively assess both in personal and worldwide situations before we become as innovative as we will need to be.
I am so happy that, at the time of the inauguration of President Trump (20th January), the energy of Aquarius is present! (at time of writing, not yet taken place) Optimistically, ‘the good of all humanity’, good sense and a sweeping away of outmoded ideas will prevail! However, if his promises are anything to go by, it would seem that strong retro and new solutions involving ethnic and religious groups, women’s rights, environmental issues etc will be discussed. Social issues are likely to take centre stage and to prompt the expression of crazy reactions and solutions as well as positive and creative innovative and visionary reactions too. The inhumane will be balanced by the humane. What may appear as a huge and looming crisis could be the very atmosphere and momentum needed to inspire new ideas, structures and positive new and humane initiatives for humanity worldwide.
Underneath all the posturing and noise, a powerful striving and sense of the need for a bigger, better, fairer and more environmentally aware ‘one world’ is likely to be more powerful than ever before. Solutions mooted, of both the social and humanitarian kind, might seem fanatical and zany schemes unlikely to succeed but, whatever emerges, a stand-off between opposing groups is bound to continue for a while before any real change can happen. Best to both hold our nerves and speak out anyway! Rebellion and innovation (Jupiter opposite Uranus at point of New Moon) is likely to hold at least equal weight as the prevailing conservativism.
An Aquarius New Moon, being very much about shared energy, is a good time to align ourselves with groups of people ‘on the same wavelength’. We all need friends and associates of like minds surrounding us. Never has it seemed more important, it seems, to have access to the ‘right friends’ – whether locally or through global networking – with whom we can share ideas, maybe to work with on new initiatives – or even, just to enjoy ourselves! The world may well carry on presenting shocks and surprises in order to spark us into reaction and action.
We need our mates! Group support, together with healthy emotional detachment from present issues, will get us through! Peace and Love! We can collectively make a difference!
